GLENN McGrath's wife Jane is confident she has beaten her second bout of breast cancer. "I am feeling really well," she said.
With husband Glenn, the former Test cricketer, by her side, a beaming Mrs McGrath said she was in remission and waiting to get the official all-clear.
McGrath, who quit cricket to support his wife when she was diagnosed with the second case of breast cancer, said he was happy to take a back seat and let his wife do all the talking.
He joked that soon he'd be forgotten as a cricket great and would be known as Jane McGrath's handbag.
"It won't be long before I am known not as Glenn McGrath the cricketer but Jane McGrath's husband," he said.
Mrs McGrath was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 1997, when she was 31, after she discovered a lump in her left breast.
She had a mastectomy, followed by six months of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Mrs McGrath was shattered in February last year when the cancer returned.
The ordeal prompted her husband to announce his retirement from cricket last November.
"I celebrate 10 years of survival next week, so that is wonderful," Ms McGrath said at a Sydney lunch they were hosting for the McGrath Foundation, which had raised more than $2.3 million to provide breast cancer nurses.
