The first page you see in your browser
Every web site owner on the planet would just love theirs to be the first you view when you open your web browser. If you don't choose your own home page you will be forced to see the Internet Explorer home page or perhaps the Firefox home page every time you open your browser. Boring ...
It is very easy however to instruct your browser to first present any page you wish. I will first explain how to do this with Mozilla Firefox which is my browser of choice and then with Internet Explorer. Both methods are very similar.
Mozilla Firefox
Firstly open your Mozilla Firefox web browser. You will notice that there are to spaces or fields as they are called near the top of the screen which permits you to enter letters and figures from your keyboard.
The larger field on the left is the one we will use. The field on the right is a search engine field and is only used for searching the internet NOT for entering internet addresses. You may enter an internet address (URL) by copying and pasting into the address field or by accurately typing the address in from your keyboard.
We will start by entering www.peelseniors.net into the left field at the top of the browser. Now press the [Enter] key on your keyboard.
Your browser will display the Home Page of the Peel SeniorsNet web site. We then follow some simple menu prompts to make this page appear every time we open our Mozilla Firefox Browser
At the top of the screen find the word [Tools] and click once on the word. Now drag your mouse pointer down to the word [Options] and again click once. A smaller screen appears.
You will see two fields. The first one is labelled When Firefox starts:. Leave this as it is. The next field which is labelled Home Page:
Now click once on the button which says [Use Current Page]. The address http://www.peelseniors.net/ appears in the [Home Page] field. Now click once on the [OK] button at the bottom of the small screen.
All done. The Peel SeniorsNet home page will now appear first each time you open your browser or click on the [Home button] (an icon that looks like a small house) at the left of the address field..
