Return Vista to the Classic view

One of the most often raised problems with Windows Vista is that it looks so different from XP that it scares people off. Fortunately there is a way to make Vista look and feel like XP which most of us have now got used to using.

First thing is to change the Start menu back to "normal". Right click on the Start button, choose Properties, then select Classic Start Menu and click OK.

Next, bring back your old familiar desktop. Right click on a blank part of the desktop and choose Personalize. Choose Theme and then choose Windows Classic from the Theme pull-down menu. Click OK.

Finally, put the menus back on the top of each folder. Open your Documents folder from the Start menu. The click the Organize button, choose Folder and Search Options and then choose Use Windows Classic Folders. Now click OK.

This will not only bring back the look of XP but will assist older computers that may struggle with Vista's layer graphics to run a little faster.
